About Dr. Tzachi Slonim

Dr. Tzachi Slonim is a clinical psychologist providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy in the Flatiron District in Manhattan. He provides services in English and in Hebrew.

Dr. Slonim’s therapeutic work is guided by an understanding of attachment theory and the influence of early relationships on the ways individuals view themselves and function interpersonally. Grounded in current scientific knowledge, Dr. Slonim utilizes a broad range of interventions to treat the full range of childhood and adult psychological difficulties.

Psychological Testing and training group therapists are the secondary elements of his practice. Prior to his doctoral training in clinical psychology, Dr. Slonim worked in various not-for-profit organizations in Israel as a group facilitator and a project manager. He conducted human-rights workshops, facilitated Palestinian-Israeli dialogue groups, and ran educational projects in underprivileged communities.

Dr. Slonim has a long-standing interest in group psychotherapy and has been running groups in various settings since 2004. He has undertaken advanced training in group therapy and group analysis, and in the last 6 years has run adult psychotherapy groups at City College, Brooklyn College, an outpatient clinic in midtown Manhattan, and now in his private practice. Dr. Slonim has taught group psychotherapy at City College, John Jay College, and at the EGPS training program.

In addition to his work as a psychotherapist, Dr. Slonim is also engaged in scholarly writing. He has written about the clinical applications of neurobiological research, about the ways in which depression and anxiety impact descriptions of emotional events, and more recently about the use of playfulness in group supervision.
