About Dr. Tzachi Slonim

I am a clinical psychologist providing individual, couples, and group psychotherapy. I work in English and in Hebrew and currently mainly work virtually (via Zoom).

My therapeutic work is guided by an understanding of attachment theory and the influence of early relationships on the ways individuals view themselves and function interpersonally. Grounded in current scientific knowledge, I utilize a broad range of interventions to treat the full range of childhood and adult psychological difficulties.

Prior to my doctoral training in clinical psychology, I worked in various not-for-profit organizations in Israel as a group facilitator and a project manager. I conducted human-rights workshops, facilitated Palestinian-Israeli dialogue groups, and ran educational projects in underprivileged communities.

I have a long-standing interest in group psychotherapy and have been running groups in various settings since 2004. I have undertaken advanced training in group therapy and group analysis, and in the last decade ran adult psychotherapy groups at City College, Brooklyn College, an outpatient clinic in midtown Manhattan, and now in private practice. I have taught group psychotherapy at City College, John Jay College, at the EGPS training program, and at Adelphi University’s postgraduate program in group psychotherapy.

In addition to my work as a psychotherapist, I am also engaged in scholarly writing. I have written about the clinical applications of neurobiological research, about the ways in which depression and anxiety impact descriptions of emotional events, and more recently about the use of playfulness in group supervision. My full CV can be found here.
